Examples of DWP sanctions and poor treatment

For those of you who follow my Twitter account you will know that I often share stories of people who have been sanctioned or have suffered under the poor treatment of the DWP. Over the past 18 months or so I have been collecting examples from reports, local and national newspapers and social media.

Increasingly, people ask for sanction stories to use in their writing, blog posts, plays, presentations or whatever, so what follows are some of the examples I have collected. If this isn’t enough I also have a page which provides links to even more examples. My own sanction story is discussed here and also here.

Please note: I have not posted this for entertainment. Every example is a real person whose life has been affected by DWP. Indeed, some of the people below have died.

Sadly as an ex employee of DWP Harrogate I must advise great caution with dealing with staff.Unfortunately the DWP seems to attract a significant number of psycopaths, sociopaths and social misfits within its ranks
